This wine takes the bordeaux blends - Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot - with the winemaking skills of Meerlust (making wine in South Africa since 1756) to create this simply stunning red.
Meerlust Red has an expressive nose of powerful cassis, plum, exotic spice and hints of floral aromas. On the palate the wine has intense flavours of crushed black fruit, cassis, vanilla and dark chocolate. The tannins are soft and silky, the acidity fresh. 2014 Vintage - great to drink now or cellar for 2-4 years more.
Inside Knowledge: Meerlust produce their legendary/iconic red wine called Rubicon (priced upwards of £25-£30/bottle),some vintages do not make it into the Rubicon brand...I wonder where that wines goes?
